The character John Kirstein

John Kirstein is 15 when he is first introduced in the Battle of Trost Arch. This one joined the 104th Training Brigade in order to hope to integrate the Special Brigade and thus to have a “peaceful life”.
His relationship with Eren Yeager starts immediately of the bad foot. Indeed, he is jealous of Eren for being so close to Mikasa and does not understand his conviction to join the Exploration Battalion, which he considers stupid and suicidal. Arguments will break out between them and their comrades will be forced to intervene in order to calm their ardor.
At the end of the training, Jean finishes in 6th position, offering him the possibility of fulfilling his wish.Nevertheless, after much reflection and very great courage, he will join the Exploration Battalion.
Jean is an honest, upright man, who has developed very quickly the ability to react in the most crucial moments. This makes him a natural leader whom his comrades can trust.
